San Diego Zoo

The San Diego Zoo is more than a zoo: it is a sanctuary for thousands of animals, a landscape of rare plants from all climates and a living classroom that entertains as well as educates. Learn about animals that lived in Southern California 12,000 years ago and meet their living counterparts at The Harry and Grace Steele Elephant Odyssey. The new 7.5-acre multispecies habitat features elephants, California condors, jaguars and more and offers guests insight about the Zoo’s conservation efforts to protect wildlife from becoming extinct like the mammoth and saber-toothed cat.

Wild Animal Park

A visit to the San Diego Zoo’s Wild Animal Park is a safari into adventure. Featuring huge open enclosures with herds of African and Asian animals, the Wild Animal Park is a unique experience that brings people thrillingly close to wild and endangered animals. One of the best ways to experience the wild open spaces is by taking the Park’s Journey into Africa tour, an open-air, soft-wheeled vehicle inspired by the legendary safari trains of Africa. The experience brings visitors to eye level with animals such as white rhinoceroses, giraffes, Cape buffalo, Roosevelt’s gazelles, African crowned cranes and more. The Journey into Africa tour vehicles run on biodiesel, a clean-burning alternative fuel made from renewable resources and travel 2 miles around the Wild Animal Park’s expansive African field enclosures totaling 213 acres.

Balboa Park

Balboa Park is one of the most widely photographed destinations in San Diego, and for good reason: It’s simply stunning! Created in 1868 as a 1,200 acre overlook of the ambitious project that relocated San Diego’s business and political center to its current location, the lush landscaped beauty, with its art and cultural institutions and green-space is the largest urban cultural park in the United States and often referred to as the “Smithsonian of the West.” The 1915 Panama-California Exposition commemorated the opening of the Panama Canal and created many of the park’s cultural institutions, built in a stunning Spanish-Renaissance architecture. It was one of the first times this highly ornamental architectural style had been used in the United States, which is now characteristic of most of the arts organizations housed along Balboa Park's famous El Prado pedestrian walkway.

Coronado Island

Coronado is a beautiful landmark and is well-known for the stunning views across the bay to San Diego and the famous Coronado Bridge. Filled with great restaurants, bistros and home to the famous Hotel Del Coronado, featured in numerous Hollywood movies and television shows. A walk along the Bayfront is a must.

Old Town

Old Town San Diego is considered the “birthplace” of California. Old Town San Diego is the site of the first permanent Spanish settlement in California. Over 4 million people visit our community and the Old Town San Diego State Historic Park that preserves the rich heritage that characterized San Diego during the 1821 to 1872 period. The park includes a main plaza, exhibits, museums and living history demonstrations. Old Town Saturday Market, San Diego's largest weekly artisan market featuring handmade works from local artisans is held every Saturday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

Dining, Shopping and Entertainment

San Diego has an array of great restaurants to fit any style or taste.
